MARC MEANS BUSINESS
Today Lon Smith Roofing was honored to welcome our friend, Congressman Marc Veasey, to one of our Dallas work sites.
We first met Congressman Veasey last year when he took part in our Roof for Vets program where we build a free roof for a worthy veteran. At the event, we talked to Congressman Veasey about our business and about the fact we are not only the largest residential roofing contractor in Texas but we are headquartered in his Congressional District.
Since that time we’ve been talking to Congressman Veasey about taking part in his “Marc Means Business” program. This is where Congressman Veasey selects a business in his district and then joins them for a day on the job.
Today, Congressman Veasey is on top of a house in Dallas as we build a new roof for a customer. He noted that he chose Lon Smith as a way to celebrate Small Business Week.
“Kicking off #SmallBusinessWeek with the folks at Lon Smith Roofing,” he said as he was fitting for safety gear so he could get on top of the roof. “Excited to spend April's Marc Means Business' work day with them.”
We are excited, too, Congressman Veasey. And we join you in celebrating Small Business Week. At Lon Smith, we are proud to offer good jobs and wages to 150 employees. And we are proud to serve each and every one of our customers by giving them the best roofing service possible.
Check out the photos of Congressman Veasey’s day at Lon Smith Roofing below.

One of the things that reflect your business appearance is the roof, because it is probably the first detail you notice about a building.
There are several options when it comes to choosing a commercial roof: various sizes, shapes, materials and colors, depending on your budget and preferences. Most commercial roofs are flat or low slope, which means that they require reinforcement and waterproofing layers, to add resistance, strength and stability. A Dallas roofing contractor can give great advice for your area and building specifics.
The most common materials include:
Single-ply membrane - this is probably the most popular material used on commercial roofs, due to being affordable and reflective (energy-efficient). It comes with 20-25-year warranty.
EPDM is a type of single-ply roofing membrane that performs great on flat roofs with a positive pitch. It can be reinforced with glass fiber or other materials and has a life expectancy of 20-5 years.
TPO - this is another roofing option in the single-ply family, resistant to most chemicals, reflective and sustainable. Life expectancy is 20-25 years.
Metal - one of the most durable and resistant option, not just for residential buildings, but also for commercial ones. Life expectancy is very long (50+) and maintenance will be minimum, typically consisting in cleaning and applying an elastomeric coating, in order to prevent rust.

ROOF FOR VETS HONORS JAMES PORTLOCK
Kicking off another year of “Roof for Vets” events, Lon Smith Roofing today installed a new roof at no charge to a local military veteran.
James Portlock lives in White Settlement and serves as a school bus driver. Prior to that, he served in the US Navy for 26 years. His service took him to Vietnam, Lebanon and even the Bay of Pigs.
But these days, he’s fighting a different kind of battle—his roof. His roof is leaking and he and his wife have resorted to using buckets to catch the water that is leaking through his roof. Now, he has a new roof thanks to the “Roof for Vets” program.
“Today, we are honored to present a new roof installation to Mr. James Portlock,” said Lon Smith Vice President, Scott Hamilton. “Mr. and Mrs. Portlock, it’s time to put your buckets away. Today, you will have a new roof. It’s the least we can do to thank you for all you have done for our country.”
The Roof for Vets program selects a worthy veteran each quarter of the year and installs a new roof at no charge. Nominations are currently open for the second quarter.

When it comes to finding a suitable roof replacement material, metal is among the best options – here is why:
Low weight – metal roofing panels are much lighter than other roofing materials, making metal roofing systems a great option for lightweight constructions that could not support the weight of heavier roofing.

Gutter guards are great, modern inventions that prevent debris such as leaves or twigs, from reaching into the gutter, thus improving the gutter’s ability to direct water away from the roof and from the walls of the house. Enhanced gutter protection is the principle benefit offered by leaf guards, but there are a few, less obvious, but not less important benefits that you should also know about:
For all the reasons above - and to save yourself from time consuming messy gutter clean up every fall, contact veteran Fort Worth roofing company Lon Smith professionals to update your roofing system with guarded gutters.

Siding your house means adding extra protection to the walls, as well as enhancing its look. There are many siding materials - stone, brick, vinyl, wood - that provide different levels of durability and affordability, but the right balance can be reached with concrete siding (also known as fiber cement siding).
The answer in the question from the title is therefore obvious: yes, you should definitely consider concrete siding for your home. Here are the main advantages of this material:
Clearly, costs can vary, as can individual homeowner home improvement budgets. Climate may play a critical role in considering if concrete is the way to go in your area as well.
Scheduling an accredited Fort Worth roofing company consultation is recommended to ensure you have the most up to date facts and expertise when making these home renovation decisions.
